Throughout 2020 I tried to adopt the glass half full approach to Life, the Universe and Everything. Despite the many ups and downs I always believed things would improve – on all fronts – not just on the snowfields. Now, with the southern hemisphere snow season looming, it seems that this optimism has been rewarded.  The vaccine roll out is gaining momentum and there are predictions that due to the La Nina we should be in for better than average snowfalls. Plus, Qantas has just announced new routes from Brisbane into Cooma and Brisbane into Albury from July this year.

This is fantastic news. I’m ready to toast a great season of snow maybe even with a full glass. So now’s the time to take stock of our - uh oh.  It’s possible that, like me, you have noticed that some of your favourite clothes are – shall we say – just a teensy bit snug? Just like us, our gear has been in storage for over 12 months.  It might not have spent its time eating and drinking (goody two shoes snow gear) but, like us, it needs a thorough and honest appraisal.

When trying on your jacket and pants, remember that you’ll need enough room to add a thermal and mid-layer if required.  Remember that windchill and wet conditions can make a day on the snow very uncomfortable without those extra layers.

Don’t forget to check whether your jacket and pants are still water repellent.  It’s as easy as pouring a bit of water onto the garments and watching whether the water beads off or not. If the water pools, it will eventually start seeping through the garment.  Depending on its condition and quality, you could buy a waterproof treatment like Nikwax Waterproof to help rejuvenate the garment. But if it is beyond repair, it is time to invest in some new gear.

The good news is there is no better time to buy as we are running a storewide sale across all of our 2020 stock.  Jackets and pants are up to 50% off across brands like Kjus, Rossignol, Karbon, NILS, Picture and Helly Hansen.  This sale will continue until the end of March or until stock sells out.

We know a lot of our customers wanted to wait until we started receiving our new collection and we are excited to announce Kjus and Spyder have arrived.  As a thank you we are offering our new collection at 10% off for the month of March.  This applies to any 2021 products that have just arrived as well like Smith and Giro.

Remember that even if you’ve done some growing over the past year, so have children and they might be ready to wear adult sizes. Why should the kids be the ones to get the new stuff?

So here’s to looking and feeling good. Let’s raise a glass (half or full) to 2021 and whatever it decides to throw at us. Hopefully it will be snow.
